Information is one of the most valuable assets any organization owns, but its value depends entirely on how it is understood and managed. This article introduces the foundations of Information Management (IM): what information is, how it differs from data, knowledge, and wisdom, and why managing it systematically is critical in a world of overload, complexity, and digital fragility. Using the Data-Information-Knowledge-Wisdom (DIKW) Model as its central thread, it explores the information lifecycle and the notion of information as an asset.
